Police yesterday charged a fourth person in connection with a plot to have the key witness in an abetment to murder case killed.
Ian "Irie" Porter, 45, of Star Estates, made his first appearance before Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes in the murder of Oneil Marshall, a prospective witness in the abetment to murder trial of Stephen "Die" Stubbs and Giovanni Roberts.
Marshall had been placed in protective custody but he reportedly left the program. It is unclear if his murder was connected to his proposed testimony.
Marshall's bullet-riddled body was found in a car in the parking lot of the abandoned building that once housed City Meat Market on Market Street around 1 a.m. on May 1.
Porter was not required to enter a plea to the charge and has been remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until June 21.
At that time, the matter is expected to be transferred to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment.
Attorney Jomo Campbell told the court that he intended to file a lawsuit on behalf of Porter alleging malicious prosecution.
Campbell said that there was no evidence against Porter and he had provided police with an alibi.
Jamaric Green, 30, and Caryn Moss, 25, and Ramon "Razor" Sweeting, 38, have also been charged in connection with the alleged murder conspiracy.
Police have not charged anyone with Marshall's murder.
