The 2016 Haitian Flag Day Festival will occur on Saturday, May 14 at the Botanical Gardens. The event will kick off at noon with lots of festive activities for adults and kids. The festival is slated to feature food booths providing unique dishes of Haiti, with a fusion of Bahamian dishes and Jamaican dishes.

A full bar setup will be provided courtesy of Commonwealth Brewery Limited. This year the Haitian hip hop, called rap kreyol, will take center stage, where participants as solo and group artists will compete for prizes provided courtesy of Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), the title sponsor of the festival.

Persons attending the festival will have an opportunity to win prizes throughout the duration of the festival by its exclusive sponsors.

Later in the night, beginning at 8 p.m., a musical concert will kick off with a variety of performances by local musicians from both the Haitian and Bahamian communities. This year's featured artist will be Gazzman Couleur, a renowned kompa musician, and an eclectic lead singer of DISIP.

"This is a general public event, where all are invited to experience the culture, art, and expression of Haiti," stated Robert Dieudonne, this year's chairman of the festival.
