THE ANTIQUE Auto Club of the Bahamas’ annual children’s art competition drew a large entry in four age categories, with Nelson Gray of Aquinas College taking the overall prize.

The judges considered 79 entries from artists as young as five up to 15 and last weekend awarded second place overall to Ian Enriquez, of Sts Francis and Joseph School, and third to Kenedi Munnings, of St. John’s College.

The participants in the free-to-enter competition were given a drawing pad and tools, asked to select a vehicle on display at the Antique Auto Club’s 29th annual show at Arawak Cay on April 2 and asked to draw a car of their choice and colour it.

This was the twelfth annual art competition, according to Jim LaRoda, the club’s Art Co-ordinator, who said the drawings were scrutinised by a panel of knowledgeable judges - Wayne Aranha, Nora Smith, Peter Armstong and Valentino Griffin.

There were prizes for the top three in each category and trophies and certificates for the first three overall. All winners received a trophy, a certificate and a collectable die cast model vehicle.
