A gunman disguised as a Wendy's employee robbed the fast food restaurant on Prince Charles Drive on Saturday around 6 a.m. as employees were preparing to open, according to authorities.

Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander said the man, who was wearing a Wendy's uniform, was let into the restaurant after being mistaken for an employee. He got away with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

Asked whether the gunman was a former employee, Fernander said police were still investigating, but had not ruled that out. He confirmed that a security officer was on duty at the time of the robbery. He also said police were looking into footage of the incident from the restaurant's surveillance cameras.

Fernander encouraged businesses and their employees to be more cautious.

Authorities were searching for the suspect up to yesterday.
