Bahamas Consul General to Miami H. Ricardo Treco, his wife Mrs. Jennifer Treco and former Minister of Labour Vincent Peet attended a performance of the critically acclaimed musical drama “The Golem of Havana,” featuring Bahamian actor Ronald Alexander Peet, son of the former Labour Minister, in the lead role, at the historic Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, on Wednesday 17, 2016.

The show was performed initially from January 14 - February 7, 2016, but was extended by popular demand for an additional week.

The Golem of Havana tells the story of a Hungarian-Jewish family living in Batista's Havana on the brink of the Cuban Revolution. When their maid's son, a guerrilla fighter, is injured, they must choose between protecting him and guarding their first fragile grasp on prosperity since their arrival. The Golem of Havana weaves together the music and traditions of two worlds, asking questions about family, community, religion, and politics.

Developed at the prestigious New York Theatre Workshop, The Golem of Havana has enjoyed sold-out productions Off-Broadway at La MaMa E.T.C. in New York City and in the Berkshires at Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning theatre company in downtown Pittsfield, MA. There, the musical became the fastest selling new show in the theatre’s history. The musical was also a Richard Rodgers Award finalist for New Musical Theatre and an Independent Reviews of New England Award (IRNE) nominee for best play.
