At the upcoming Bahamas Business Outlook (BBO), an impressive slate of speakers will be challenged to tackle the future of the Bahamian economy under the theme "A bold agenda: The next 25 years".

Prime Minister Perry Christie will deliver the keynote address at the silver jubilee anniversary of BBO, scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Melia Nassau Beach resort. BBO is celebrating a quarter century of providing a well-respected forum for the discussion of national business and financial matters.

Joan Albury, president of TCL Group and founder of the popular event, is committed to ensuring that the focus of discussion at the events is relevant to the Bahamian and global realities.

"The upcoming Bahamas Business Outlook is going to be a very special one in many ways. We are working hard to inject novelty to create excitement. We are grateful that Prime Minister Christie and the entire speaker slate have already confirmed their participation. Secondly, the topics of the forum center on those burning issues that will decide the economic future of this country next year and through the next quarter century.

"Subjects encompass tax, energy and education reform; the nation's premier airport and its role in tourism; and enhancing creative capital as an economic driver. These are just a few of our very timely focal points. Happily, we have been successful in bringing together people who, because of their leadership in the sectors under scrutiny, are best suited to inform on and answer questions about the issues highlighted on the BBO 2016 agenda," Albury said.

In addition to the prime minister as keynoter, Albury announced the following featured speakers and their topics: Tax reform: to be led by Gowon Bowe, partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce & Employers' Confederation.

LPIA, gateway to a bold tourism vision for The Bahamas: to be led by Vernice Walkine, president and CEO of Nassau Airport Development.

Making climate change your business: to be led by Arthur Rolle, consultant at the Ministry of the Environment and Health.

The role of insurance in 21st century Bahamas: to be led by Emmanuel Komolafe, president of the Bahamas Insurance Association; chief risk officer at Colina Holdings Bahamas Limited and head of risk and compliance at Ansbacher (Bahamas) Limited. Energy reform: to be led by Sonia Brown, principal of Graphite Engineering.

The Bahamas: enhancing creative capital for export: to be led by Pamela Coke Hamilton, executive director of the Caribbean Export Development Agency.

Vision: to be led by Darron Turnquest, director of Youth. Education reform and the skilled labor force in The Bahamas: to be led by Candice Lynnette Deal, Ph.D, professor of accounting, Eastern Connecticut State University. The mobile revolution, how mobile apps are changing the way we communicate and conduct business: to be led by Donovan Moxey, Ph.D, CEO of IBS International.

"Bahamas Business Outlook was launched in 1992. We have hosted many outstanding personalities since then. We are searching our archives to present video flashbacks of their presentations as one of the highlights of the forum.

"In reviewing the material, it has been surprising to see how far-sighted our speakers have been in predicting today's economic and social developments. Apart from the revelations from a group of top presenters, attendees can look forward to an exciting day. We are encouraging people to reserve their seats early," Albury said.
