The National Training Agency has partnered with Resorts World Bimini (RWB) to provide an opportunity for its graduates to secure employment at the high-end resort. Under the partnership, selected graduates from the NTA’s hospitality programmes will be given the opportunity to be employed at the Resort. Executive Director of NTA, Agatha Marcelle, said that the partnership is another opportunity for the NTA to invest in Bahamian youth and to enhance their ability to contribute to the growth and development of the Bahamian economy.

"Our mandate to provide the Bahamas with a highly-trained and certified workforce is one which we take very seriously. This partnership, which will benefit many of our graduates, is both timely and relevant," Marcelle said.

She added that the partnership comes at a time when disadvantaged Bahamian youth need new avenues to be engaged in productive enterprise and new opportunities to achieve sustainable means of income-generation.

The NTA has developed an excellent reputation in the business community with over 20 companies providing some form of support through internships and employment.

Some 2,000 young Bahamians between the ages of 16 – 26 obtained appropriate skills, training and certification from the Agency over the last two years. Currently, some 70% of those graduates are either employed or have gained work experience by participating in various internship programmes.

General Manager for RWB, Ray Valentino, endorsed the partnership and expressed optimism about its success in the future.

“We are excited for what is to come,” Valentino said. “It is a wonderful partnership, and I am looking forward to the partnership with the NTA as we move into phase two of the Hilton Bimini.”

To date nine of the NTA’s graduates have been hired by RWB with the potential of some 50 plus to be considered for employment upon completion of Hilton Bimini phase two.

The Agency provides “free of charge,” well developed 14-week programmes that are designed to enhance workplace readiness skills for 16 to 26-year-old Bahamians who want to increase their employability and gain real world job training skills.
