Popeyes Chicken has already resonated with customers after officially launching its $2.5 million flagship store earlier this week, according to franchise co-owner Chris Tsavoussis. Tsavoussis, who co-owns and operates the local franchise along with his brother Terry, yesterday told NB12 that he expected the reintroduced franchise to perform well in the local market following the positive reception.

"We felt it would be relevant for this market. The market's really only had one main franchise player in it and then some mom and pops, and we just thought it was a tremendous product. I think it's going to do well. Just from what we've seen in the last few days people really like this brand. The product that we offer, southern Louisiana-style chicken, resonates with Bahamians," he said.

Tsavoussis added that the brothers' Aetos Holdings is currently evaluating a number of locations for additional storefronts as they get the first store operational, while the franchise currently boasts approximately 100 employees.

"We believe in giving back and trying to create jobs. This management team here is eight-deep, we've got over 100 employees, and our goal is to grow this brand. Those folks will become general managers of their own stores and those teams will be promoted into management," he said.

Popeyes joins Aetos Holdings' Wendy's and Marco's Pizza franchises in The Bahamas. Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe yesterday commended Chris Tsavoussis' investment in the franchise and the impact of local investment.

"Here he has demonstrated confidence in his country, confidence in the economy of his country, and the future of The Bahamas. He has given Bahamians opportunities and Bahamians who were perhaps not working now have opportunities. That is what I want to applaud him for because many could sit back and enjoy their wealth but he went a step further," Wilchcombe stated.

"The truth is if we don't demonstrate confidence in our own country then who do we expect to demonstrate the confidence in our country?" Wilchcombe added.
