Bannister: Student violence expected to decrease

Last year was marked by violence and tragedy in schools across The Bahamas, despite slight increases in the grade point average of the majority of students taking Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) subjects in 2010.
However, Minister of Education Desmond Bannister said the remainder of the school year is expected to be drastically different.
Bannister revealed that the Ministry of Education has identified pockets of dissident behavior amongst a small population of students over the past year, and will work with educators and parents to curb negative behavior in the country’s schools.
