The songs of QuiaLashon Sands send a message of hope and encouragement to her audience. Her perspective is to always "view the glass half full rather than half empty".

As a singer, her personal style consists of a fusion of neo-soul, jazz, pop and contemporary gospel influences. Her rich tone is soothing to the ear and has appealed to numerous audiences. As a songwriter, she is able to transition to various genres based on the mood she wants to evoke in each of her songs.

"I started singing from the age of 14 in church, but in terms of writing I started from high school," she said. "I was born into a musical family. My dad's side of the family, they sing, but they have never taken it to another level and that is something that I have always wanted to do, in terms of actually going after the passion."

One of QuiaLashon's goals is to write for international artists. She has already written over 50 songs. "I truly desire to write for other artists because I have an ear for who would sound good singing my songs. I don't think my voice suits all of the songs that I have written, so I really want to be a songwriter more than anything."

Her latest single, entitled "Fighter", will be available on digital platforms such as iTunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Play and many others today, November 20th. When asked what inspired her to write the song, she stated, "Most of our greatest battles take place in our minds. If we can overcome our way of thinking, we can overcome in life."

She noted that many people are struggling with memories of negative words spoken to them from their childhood. There are people in relationships dealing with physical, verbal or emotional abuse. Whatever the battle, her hope is that the song inspires people to fight for their own lives and experience what it is to truly be free.

"There is a line in the song that goes, 'And I will break through, I will be better than what you thought I will be. I wanna thank you for helping me to realize that there is a fighter in me'. That is saying thanks to the haters, thanks to the people who said you couldn't do it; they push you and propel you to be all that you can be."

Her first single, entitled "The Daddy Shout Out" was a tremendous success, with a reach as far as New Zealand and the Netherlands. Released on Father's Day, 2015, the song paid tribute to the "good dads all over the world". QuiaLashon strongly believes in seeing the best in people and situations, despite the negative opinions of others.

Her writing is heavily influenced by her faith in God, personal experiences and a genuine desire to reach, inspire, and encourage those with whom she comes into contact. She believes that music breaks barriers and is the ultimate vehicle for universal communication. In the near future, QuiaLashon desires for her songs to be featured in movies and commercials across the world.

I'm working with some local artists now on a few projects that will be launched next year. The focus at the moment is writing and producing singles more so than a full album, I think that once people begin to really understand who I am as an artist and feel my style a bit, then I can focus on doing a full album, but I need to get people to know who I am first through singles."
