Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina General Manager Steve Riely literally took the plunge to help reach a donation goal during a recent hurricane relief fundraiser. Upon hearing that the fundraiser was just short of its $1,000 goal, Riely promised to jump into the Big Game Club's pool fully clothed if the goal could be reached. Guests quickly responded and Riely kept his promise. The resort then matched the total with another $1,000.

The hurricane fundraiser is part of the resort's ongoing Community Goodwill program that supports individuals and organizations in need. This time the funds will be sent to help residents of San Salvador in the central Bahamas to help rebuild their homes following the damages caused by Hurricane Joaquin.

The fundraiser, held on Saturday, October 10, featured two local Bahamian entertainers -- Bimini's Stevie S (Hold Ya Head) and Nassau's Chase Fernander (Dear John) -- along with jerk chicken, BBQ ribs, Kalik beer and Bahama Mama rum punch. Raffle tickets were sold with prizes provided by the Big Game Club and local merchants.

The Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina has previously made scholarship donations to the local elementary and high schools as well as a student needing corrective eye surgery.

The 51-room Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina, managed by the Horizon Hotel Group is a popular, internationally-regarded boutique resort less than 50 miles from South Florida. The property is known for world-class diving and snorkeling, fishing and as a family-friendly destination with many on-the-water activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, boating and sailing.
