LPIA opens new passenger lounge at domestic and international terminal

The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) today marked the official opening of its new premium passenger lounge, the Lignum Club, with a cocktail reception attended by Lorraine Armbrister, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, standing in for Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin. George Casey, president, Vantage Airport Group; and Vernice Walkine, president and CEO, Nassau Airport Development Company Ltd. (NAD) were also in attendance.

Located in LPIA'S domestic and international terminal, the new lounge offers travelers another superb addition to the variety of shop, dine and relax amenities that already exist at the airport. The club is managed and operated by NAD and offers exciting food and beverage options, a business center with computer workstations, a full-service bar, cable television, private meeting space and concierge services. The Lignum Club has an all-inclusive cover charge, and passengers can make a reservation online at www.thelignumclub.com or simply walk in to experience all of the comforts and privacy of the lounge while waiting for their flights. Individual, corporate and group membership plans for frequent travelers are also available.

Hanna-Martin, who could not attend due to urgent obligations related to Hurricane Joaquin, heralded the opening of the Lignum Club. "I wish to commend the LPIA team on their historic achievement this evening. NAD, in cooperation with its partners, has developed a first class passenger lounge. As an organization, NAD continues to demonstrate a model for public/private partnerships, sharing insights, knowledge and ideas towards a common goal. It is a model which should be replicated across sectors and development projects throughout our country," she said.

Walkine noted in her remarks that "the Lignum Club is one of the few passenger lounges in the region that is managed and operated by the airport in which it is located. Additionally, as a member of the Priority Pass network, which is the world's largest independent airport lounge program, the Lignum Club will very quickly distinguish itself as one of the regional lounges of choice for the network's discerning customer base of 10 million members."

"We commend LPIA for creating another excellent addition to the quality tourism product that our destination is known for," said Stuart Bowe, president, Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA). "Research shows that today's high-end travelers, in particular, expect to have access to a premium lounge when they travel. The opening of the Lignum Club helps us to meet that expectation and improve their travel experience and general view of our destination."
