Christie: PLP would welcome Branville
Opposition leader Perry Christie said there was plenty of room in the Progressive Liberal Party for former Immigration Minister Branville McCartney. The former Prime Minister said McCartney was probably the most popular FNM in Parliament and that his resignation is a sign that the Free National Movement is in trouble.

Disbelief over student's apparent suicide
An impressive athlete and popular student, Keisha Thurston had lots of reasons to believe she had a bright future ahead. But one of her last posts to facebook suggests she had trouble seeing it.
After a night out with her friends Keisha updated her status on the social networking site to, " Keisha Thurston thinks it's hard to keep my eyes on the future, when my heart longs for the past...."

More skeletal remains found in Grand Bahama

FREEPORT – Bahamas, Human skeletal remains were discovered in bushes in Freeport Monday morning but police are unable to determine whether foul play is suspected at this time.
Assistant Superintendent Loretta Mackey said the discovery was made sometime after 11am in the vicinity of an unfinished building on McKenzie Street by a construction worker.
This is the second skeletal remains found here on Grand Bahama within a 24-hour period.

Two Catholic schools forced to close this year

Declining student numbers have forced the Catholic Board of Education in the Bahamas to close two schools, one in Bimini and the other in Eleuthera.
Holy Name primary school in Bailey Town, Bimini or St Anne's primary school in Rock Sound, Eleuthera will shut down after the 2010 school year. Low enrollment means the board is paying at least $1,400 per student to meet basic expenses.

The Bahamas Heart Foundation concerned over Dr Duane Sands' political career
The Bahamas Heart Foundation is worried that if Duane Sands becomes the Member of Parliament for the Elizabeth Estates constituency the country will lose one of only three surgeons qualified for cardiovascular operations.
Last week Sands performed seven surgeries. Sands said he remains committed to his responsibilities as a surgeon.

Man dies at the wheel after stabbing
Police called to the scene of a traffic accident found the body of an 18-year-old driver who had been stabbed several times.
Livingston Davis was stabbed in the chest and lower black during a fight at his home in Black Village. He crashed into another car at near Hospital Lane and Poinciana Drive after he died at the wheel.
