Singles prepare to 'Stop. Reset. Do' at Singles Focus Weekend 2015

Single, adult professionals will be challenged to maximize their potential by resetting and renewing the way they think, work and live. They will be encouraged and inspired to prioritize, pursue and fulfill their aspirations, and they will be provided with the tools to improve their life and work integration and promote a lifestyle of peace and well-being at Singles Focus Weekend 2015. The weekend will be held under the theme "Stop. Reset. Do", and will serve as training and motivation for singles, and will especially focus on practical strategies and innovative ideas to transform, redefine, improve and enhance mindsets and lifestyles, based on biblical principals.

The Singles Ministry at Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) under the leadership of Pastor Claudine Farquharson will host the event September 25-27 at the Diplomat Center on Carmichael Road. The three days will feature principle-based teaching sessions, inspiring and instructive workshops and fun-based activities targeted toward single adults and professionals.

"The event, now in its eighth year, is undoubtedly one of the premier events of its kind here in The Bahamas and has had a tremendous, life-changing impact on persons who have participated over the years," said Farquharson.

Speakers at this year's event include youth pastor at Universal Household of Faith Church on Grand Bahama and author Glenn Russell, and consultant, author, television producer and motivational speaker Lakita Garth, a former Miss Black America. Russell is the founder of The Ministry Gifts of Glenn Russell. His ministry theme is "A local touch with a global thrust"; He has a desire to see young people saved and delivered and has dedicated his life to spreading the good news of the gospel to as many people as he can. He is the author of the book "Am I Doing Wrong While Waiting for Mr. Right?".

Garth has addressed thousands of teenagers across the United States as well as internationally and has testified before the United States Senate on issues such as teen pregnancy, HIV and the impact of media on adolescence. She is the author of the bestselling book "The Naked Truth: About Sex, Love & Relationships" and is married to Jeffrey Wright, CEO of UMI (Urban Ministries Incorporated), the largest African American Christian publishing and media company in the United States.

Marlin Award nominated singer, songwriter and praise and worship leader Mericha Walker has been confirmed to minister in music during the event.
Singles Focus Weekend 2015 kicks off on Friday with the opening night session at 7:30 p.m. featuring Garth who will speak on the topic "Stop the madness -- Get off the roller coaster".

On Saturday, "Reset your life" workshops will be held, beginning at 9 a.m. Garth will address the topics "Chasing what matters" and "Keeping it real: Let go, let flow"; Glenn Russell will tackle the subject "Getting the best from my relationships". A registration fee of $25 will be levied for workshops.
BFMI Senior Pastors Dr. David and Pastor Angela Burrows will close out the weekend with a teaching on Sunday at 10 a.m., addressing the topic "In the year of the do, start with you".
