Macedonia Baptist Church's P.U.S.H. (pray until something happens) Youth Department's Youth Rally In The Park will kickstart a year-long list of festivities organized by the church's anniversary committee in recognition of the church's 50th anniversary.
The Youth Rally In The Park, which is expected to be a spirit-filled event, will be held at the church on Bernard Road, Fox Hill on July 17.

"We anticipate a grand and glorious time in the Lord, as we demonstrate the fact that all is not lost when it comes to our young men and women in our society," said Brent Stubbs, the church's director of youth.

"We continue to hear the negativity that is exerted towards the young people whenever something negative happens, but how many times do [people] pause and show appreciation and gratitude to those young people who are making a meaningful contribution to society, and indeed an impact in the lives of those young people whom they come in contact with."

This is the second time that P.U.S.H. will host a Youth Rally In The Park event. Stubbs said that because of the success of the first event, the church decided to bring it back. "God's purpose fulfilled" is the theme for the rally. The text will come from Jeremiah 29: 11-14.

"There's a plan that God has in store for each and every one of our lives, but how many of us are living out the plan? Just imagine if more than half of us allowed God to use us in the manner that he sees fit," he said. "Too many times we take it upon ourselves that because we have this and we have that and we know this and we know that, we believe that we have arrived and there is no longer a need to depend on God. We only go back to him when we find ourselves in trouble."

Salem Baptist Church's Krishna Rolle and Bethel Baptist Church's Travis Williams will join Macedonia's youth president, Denero Rahming, in encouraging people through the spoken word to fulfill the call and plan God has for their lives.
DJ Godson will be the master of ceremony for the evening, with music by Big Bruh, Men of Grace, Blaxx and Ira Cooper.

"We have a saying when we invite people to our church and it is 'Come on over to Macedonia and help us', so we are asking people to mark the date down and join in this time of celebrations by our young people," said Stubbs.

Macedonia Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Hartman Nixon, will celebrate its golden anniversary in May 2016. His wife Minister Laverne Nixon chairs the anniversary committee.
