WE'RE READY - Local entertainers are ready for the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Kickoff Weekend set for April 17-18. FREEPORT, Bahamas - The stage is set for an explosive Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival (BJC) Kickoff weekend in Grand Bahama when the legendary T-Connection and a Bahamian all-star lineup, including Jay Mitchell, pull out all the stops at the first ever non-stop cultural party on April 17-18.
Thousands will flock to Taino Beach, which is being transformed into a Cultural Village, to take part in the all-day festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday and local entertainers are hyped and ready for an electrifying showdown.
Ginger Moxey, organizer of the BJC Kickoff Weekend and Bahamas National Festival Commission Consultant, stressed that there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the entire weekend at the Cultural Village.
"Our events cater to the entire community and we're so excited about it. We are so delighted to have the many entertainers, artists, DJs, other performers, Junkanooers and artisans who have come onboard," said Moxey.
"We will have live Bahamian music from day one when the party starts and the 17 Bahamian artists who made it to the semifinals in the song competition of the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival CD compilation will perform their original songs on stage over the two days."
