The Sandals Foundation, the non-profit arm of Sandals Resorts International, has partnered with Dairy Queen Limited to launch a charity fundraising campaign to support the Providing Access to Continued Education (PACE) program, which will help to change the lives and futures of young women in The Bahamas affected by teen pregnancy.

Dairy Queen will contribute $3 to the PACE program for every cake purchased in its stores at regular price through June 30. This will give patrons an easy, hassle-free way to give back to the community by way of PACE's educational initiatives.

Staying committed to PACE's mission of hope and inspiration, the fundraising campaign will build upon further raising awareness of teenage pregnancy within The Bahamas, where over 500 teenagers become pregnant annually, and ways of countering it. Through the appeal, funds raised from the campaign will be used to build a new PACE facility -- a state-of-the-art learning center that will be much larger than the existing PACE building. These vast upgrades will enable greater content to be developed, improving vocational training. The contemporary facility will also be able to accommodate additional students.

"Teenage pregnancy remains a huge issue within The Bahamas, and we are pleased to partner with the Dairy Queen brand to help raise awareness and garner funds in support of PACE," said Heidi Clarke, director of programs. "Through their staff, patrons and shareholders, we are excited about the potential to help raise the money needed to complete the new building and offer these young girls a permanent home and, with it, the brighter future they deserve."

Deon Dunbar, marketing manager for Family Fun Treats, the franchise owners of Dairy Queen Limited within The Bahamas, said the complexity of issues facing young women requires traditional and non-traditional partnerships be formed.

"Knowing this, Dairy Queen is proud to partner with the Sandals Foundation to lend support to PACE and the young women they assist. Not only was this decision to join the effort an easy one given our commitment to civic responsibility, but it also allows our loyal customers to support this great cause. Many small contributions ?can make a huge difference. With these first steps, we look forward to ?making a huge difference in the lives of the young women enrolled at PACE."

Four Dairy Queen restaurants on New Providence at Harbour Bay, Mall at Marathon, Southwest Plaza and Cable Beach will participate in the charity fundraising campaign.
