The advent of a sultry and sophisticated voice has catapulted Facebook likes for a popular southeastern shore development in record time. Less than two weeks after adding Bahamian jazz vocalist Naomi Godet-Taylor to its restaurant’s Friday night line-up, Palm Cay’s Facebook page jumped by more than 1,000 Likes.

“We’re always looking for innovative ideas and offerings for residents and members to make Palm Cay the most exciting and friendly place to live,” said Palm Cay’s lifestyle manager Garry Godfrey. “Naomi Godet-Taylor was the perfect addition to our Friday night. The numbers prove that -- we’ve had a full house of 150 for the last two weeks and have had to turn away many who called for reservations.”

Signing the popular musical artist with a strong following was part of introducing new management, menu and pricing at the stately three-storey tropical style clubhouse and restaurant located within the marina and seafront residential development.

“Revising the menu, extending the hours, insisting on fresh, healthy offerings are all part of the new look, feel and experience of the restaurant at Palm Cay (formerly Billfish Grill),” said Godfrey. “With the incredible Naomi Taylor and keyboard and vocalist Clinton Crawford along with a pizza buffet for jazz and pizza Friday nights we clearly hit the right chord.”

Godet-Taylor started singing before she could speak full sentences. Her career spans the musical gamut from local groups including the National Youth Choir, Renaissance Singers and Bel Canto Singers to performing at international concerts in Cape May, New Jersey for its famed Jazz Festival and the Toronto Jazz Festival.

“The popularity has been beyond our expectation. We’re doing all we can to keep up with Facebook and social media,” said Godfrey. “And this is just the beginning of the new offerings that will be coming on stream.”

Fully built out, the sprawling nearly 70-acre development will include some 300 single family homes, townhomes, condos and cottages. Its 194-slip marina was recently awarded the highest ranking by reviewers on a site that’s like the TripAdvisor for boaters. Other amenities for members, guests and those staying at the marina include 1,200 feet of broad, sandy beach, swimming pools, gazebo, lighted tennis courts, kayaks, paddleboards and 24-hour security.
