Elks Lodge members worship at St. Peter's Anglican Church

Members of The Elks Lodge were reminded by Father Chester Burton, that during the Lenten season, the main thrust and focus for all Christians is to be transformed for the dawn of Easter. The priest in charge at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Simms, North Long Island told the lodge members during their visit to the church on the first Sunday of Lent, during a closed service that the Ash Wednesday liturgy speaks to man's frailty and his dire need and dependence on God.

Burton showed the members a pot in which he had burnt palms that were blessed during Palm Sunday 2014, and told them that in essence, their lives were just like the burnt palms in God's sight. He admonished the lodge members to adopt a manual from the tenets Jesus espoused in the Ash Wednesday Gospel, in which he admonished his followers to practice sincere alms giving, praying and to consistently fast.

The Elks Lodge held it summit over the weekend under theme "Transforming lives to make a difference".
