NASSAU, Bahamas - The Humane Society is asking for blankets and towels to keep animals warm in the recent cold weather.

Humane Society President Kim Aranha said they need towels or blankets to make warm beds for dogs sleeping in outside kennels.

President Aranha said people brought many more animals than usual during the holidays. If you have been thinking of adopting there are mix-breed dogs including Labrador, Chow, Terrier, Setter, Retriever, Jack Russell, Doberman, Rottweiler and, of course, Potcakes.

Appealing for adoptions, Aranha said: "These dogs are just begging for a good home, they are faithful, intelligent and just waiting to protect and love you. I am asking you that if you have been thinking of getting a dog in the next few months; now is the time. We are full, we need to have some of these animals homed now."
