Highway Church of God members will honor the people in their past, celebrate those in the present and make preparations to bridge the future as they mark 50 years of service with a general assembly convention.

The convention, which will be held under theme "Let Us Arise and Build", will be held February 16-22 at the Church of God Temple at Coconut Grove Avenue and K.D. Josey Way. The highlight of the convention will be the jubilee parade and baptism at the Western Esplanade on Sunday, February 22.

A series of activities and services will be held throughout the year to commemorate the works of their founding fathers and current members. The first Church of God missionaries, R.M. and Ida Evans along with Bahamians Edmond and Rebecca Barr brought about the Church of God in 1910.

The executive council of the Church of God was formed in 1964. John H. Davis Sr., Kenneth D. Josey, Alfred Thompson, David Green, Ephraim Beckford, Clifford Rahming, Asa Sergeant, John Miller, Hartman Saunders, Joe Taylor and William Johnson were among the members. The Church of God in The Bahamas became an incorporated body on June 22, 1965.
The late Bishop John Davis Sr. served as the first general superintendent of the now Church of God in The Bahamas Incorporated. The first headquarters was located at the Dixie Church of God, Wulff Road, which was the flagship church at that time.

In 1974, the late Bishop Kenneth D. Josey was elected as the second general superintendent; in 1986, Bishop Hubert Pinder Sr. was elected as the third general superintendent. In 2002, Bishop Robert A. McPhee was elected as the fourth general superintendent; and on April 13, 2014, Bishop Lonford L. Bethel was elected as the fifth general superintendent.
