LPIA brings Holiday cheer to travellers

With jaunty Santa hats perched on top their heads and hymn sheets in tow, the tinkling sounds of the Urban Renewal bell ringers greet passengers as they check-in at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).

The Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) and its tourism partners, the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB) and the Ministry of Tourism are breaking out the Christmas spirit at the country’s number one gateway.

“We have decked the terminals with tons of talent to help our incoming and outgoing passengers celebrate the joy of the season,” said NAD’s President & CEO Vernice Walkine.

“Traveling gets hectic during the holidays. The entertainment is designed to help slow that frenzied pace, improve moods and remind us of the real reason behind the season.”

A gleeful gift of melody makes it far from a silent night, or day, even. The festivities run from December 17-25, at strategic locations throughout the airport.

Groups tapped to perform songs of the season include the Urban Renewal Band, the Bahamas National Children’s Choir, the School for the Blind’s Mighty Beacon, the Oligarki Band and choirs from Kingsway, St Anne’s and the College of The Bahamas.

Young travelers will get to tell Santa’s what’s on their wish-list as Old St Nick and his elves are making scheduled appearances and dispensing candy canes to those who have been “nice.”

“The goal is to bring a smile to faces," said Ms Walkine. "We especially want to provide our visitors with a festive welcome to The Bahamas. We’re in the business of hospitality and making memorable experiences, that starts as soon as our guests arrives at the airport.”
