High-flying action continues in the NPBA

The Double R. Services Ltd. Cleaners and Patron Regulators both scored wins in New Providence Basketball Association (NPBA) regular season on Wednesday night at the A.F. Adderley Gymnasium. The Cleaners knocked off the Rhythm Rebels, 104-97, and the Regulators edged the Island Luck Pros, 93-88.
Cleaners 104, Rebels 97
Rashad Woodside led four players in double figures with 28 points on 11-for-20 shooting from the field in 33 minutes of action. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and handed out five assists. Omal Deveaux came off the bench to add 20 points, five assists and four rebounds for the Cleaners, and both Dax Evans and Tamiko King scored 15 points each. Jamarise King chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.
Both teams managed to shoot higher than 45 percent from the field, but the difference in the game was bench points. The Cleaners bench outscored the Rebels bench 28-8, and the Cleaners also had eight more fast break points.
The Cleaners took a 25-22 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 56-50 lead at the half. In the third, the Cleaners once again outscored the Rebels 26-20. Although the Rebels came back to win the fourth quarter, 31-28, the deficit was too much for them to overcome.
Devon Brennen had a game-high 37 points for the Rebels on 14-for-25 shooting in 37 minutes of play. Henry Burnside added 27 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Anthony Williams scored eight points and had a whopping 23 rebounds.

Regulators 93, Pros 88
Kenneth Pratt led the way for the Regulators with 27 points in just over 35 minutes of action. Gamaliel Rose added a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds, Robert Missick and Cruz Simon both finished with 10 points apiece and Cordero Thompson and Alex Rolle both chipped in with seven points each.
The teams were tied at 19 each at the end of the first quarter, but the Pros managed to take a 51-46 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Regulators battled back and won the third quarter 25-20, and sealed the game by outscoring the Pros 22-17 in the fourth.
The Regulators managed to pull out the victory although they shot just 21 percent from behind the three-point line.
Adorn Charlow had a game-high 30 points to lead the Pros. He also had 13 rebounds and two assists. Both Ron Marshall and Livingston Munnings added 12 points each and Kevin Wright Jr. came off the bench to score 10.
NPBA action will continue tonight with another double-header at the A.F. Adderley Gymnasium. At 7:30 p.m., the College of The Bahamas Caribs will take on the defending champions Commonwealth Bank Giants, and at 9 p.m., The Real Deal Shockers will take on the MailBoat Cybots.
