The Ministry of Labour and National Insurance held an informative workshop on Financial Planning for its employees on Friday, 21st November 2014. The event was organized by the Ministry's Social Committee and senior officials in order to provide employees with financial advice to assist with budgeting and the practice of good spending habits as the holiday season fast approaches. The guest speaker for the workshop was Ms. Medgar P. Bonimy, Senior Manager of Audit at Deloitte and Touche.

Ms. Bonimy, a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified International Risk Manager with eleven years of accounting experience under her belt told employees that they must be “proactive” and must begin with “the end in mind” when managing their finances. Ms. Bonimy urged employees not to overspend during this holiday season but instead to begin preparing now for Value Added Tax (VAT) which will be introduced early next year.

Ms. Bonimy also offered employees some helpful tips on how they can pay off their personal loans early by making extra payments on the principal. The workshop was well received by employees who were allowed to ask questions during a special question and answer period.
