On Saturday, September 27, the Brutha Music Festival (also known as Brutha Fest) - an annual musical festival showcasing celebrated and emerging Bahamian artists - will be introduced to The Bahamas. Set to take place at The Dundas Centre for the Performing Arts from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., Brutha Fest re-establishes the concept of an adult and family-oriented festival where all are welcomed into a safe environment to enjoy the diverse sounds of local performers.
In a rare showcase of talented artists - acts include Julien Believe, Wendi, QPid, Bodine, Leah Eneas and a Junkanoo rushout - Brutha Fest will set a precedent in merging talent, music and community. Moreover, Jungle Jym will be present with lots of games, activities and bouncing castles, etc. for the kids.
With an expected crowd of approximately 1,000 persons, who will enjoy more than 10 musical acts, the event will also serve as a great opportunity for local vendors to showcase their products and services to a varied but targeted audience. Tickets will be sold for $15 in advance, for $20 at the gate and $3 for kids.
"Taking pride in all the talents that we can find locally is extremely important, especially as we are seeing the growing success of Bahamians internationally," said Travis T. Sweeting, organizer and mastermind behind Brutha Fest. Sweeting is also the founder and CEO of Brutha Magazine, which caters to men with a sophisticated taste and lifestyle.
