Do you have the correct fire extinguishers in your business? Are they properly maintained? Do your employees know what to do if there is a fire? How do you make sure your facilities are safe for your employees and customers?
Having well-trained employees who are equipped with the appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of fires is an asset to any business, and a demonstration by the employer of its commitment toward the education and protection of the workforce.
In an effort to reinforce its quality management system, manage its fire risks and reinforce health and safety standards in the workplace, Ports International's employees received fire safety training and a demonstration from a local company, Bahamas Fire & Safety.
The training included a practical demonstration on the safe use of portable firefighting equipment, during which the employees were invited to participate. The training covered fire safety, theory, causes of fire, fire risk assessment, fire safety measures, evacuation procedures, portable fire equipment as well as the practical demonstration.
At the end of the training session, Ports International employees were presented with certificates to demonstrate that they had been trained to required standards to deal with fire in the workplace.
