Man murdered in Fox Hill

Police said a man was shot in the head and killed after an altercation at a home on Johnson Road in Fox Hill yesterday.
Superintendent Paul Rolle said the victim, a resident of Step Street, rode his motorcycle to the home of the shooter on Johnson Road around 10 a.m., where an altercation unfolded.
"As he (the victim) was about to leave, the male resident withdrew a handgun, discharging shots in his direction, hitting him to the back of his head," Rolle said at the scene.
"A relative then transported the victim to the hospital and he later succumbed to his injuries."
Rolle said the suspected shooter, a 27-year-old man of Johnson Road, was recently released on bail after being charged with the murder of a relative of the victim.
Malaya Curry, the victim's mother, identified him as Dakeil Curry, 21.
She said her son was a fun-loving person who just had a baby.
Rolle said the shooter led officers on a high-speed chase through Kemp Road but was eventually caught and arrested in Nassau Village.
He said police were still looking for a 16-year-old boy of Step Street in connection with the incident.
Rolle said the suspected shooter, who was arrested and charged with murder in 2010, was released on bail in June.
This latest incident pushed the murder count for the year so far to 87, Rolle confirmed.
Malaya Curry said she is disappointed in the system.
Curry said her sister was murdered in 2010 during a drive-by shooting near her home on Step Street.
"They let the accused on bail and never contacted the family and said they were on bail," she said.
"Here it is I feel like the system has failed me so much because I went to them for help and they refused to give me help."
She described her son as a kind-hearted family man who took care of her whenever she needed help.
"I can't describe a better person than Dakeil," she said, holding back tears.
"I just buried my sister three years. I just buried my nephew. That was Dion "Emperor" Knowles' son.
"I just buried my two nephews father, so it's a blow.
"God knows I can't describe how I feel. I only have memories left of him, his smile, his encouraging words."
