Over 1,000 traffic accidents this year on Grand Bahama

FREEPORT - Over 1,000 traffic accidents, including six deaths, have been recorded so far this year on Grand Bahama, according to statistics revealed by an official at the Road Traffic Department.
Basil Rahming, Deputy Controller of Road Traffic, reported that 1,046 accidents have occurred this year on the island.
A total of 38 fatal accidents have occurred so far this year in the Bahamas, six of those on Grand Bahama, he said.
Mr Rahming noted that persons 25 years and younger accounted for about half of the road deaths in the country, according to statistics in 2008 and 2009.
