G.R. Sweeting's The Shoe Village is utilizing the talents of local models in its 2014 "Back to School" shoe campaign. Partnering with well-known modeling agency, Yodephy Dance & Modeling Academy (Yodephy), The Shoe Village decided to feature the beautiful faces of children from around New Providence.
The objective was to create a home-grown feel to the campaign while affording the young models an opportunity to gain exposure.
Ingrid Saunders, general manager of G.R. Sweeting, said that the company is always looking for new and innovative ways to promote its wide line of shoe products.
"This year we decided to incorporate local talent in our campaign. It was a marketing strategy to make the ads more relatable to our customers, but it was also a means to showcase some of the youth in our country in a positive light," she said.
Debbie Geear-Bethell, co-owner of Yodephy, said her company is extremely grateful to G.R. Sweeting and its team for giving the agency's young models such a wonderful opportunity.
"It is always great to see someone you know on a banner or featured in an advertising campaign."
She also stated that it gave the models an avenue to obtain more self-confidence, as they are taught to take pride in their appearance and posture.
The photo shoot took place at the Colony Village Community Park on the eastern side of the island and will be launched in mid-July during the upcoming back-to-school season.
