Girls and their mothers enjoyed interactive, age appropriate workshops, focused on building self-esteem and leadership skills at the recent Pretty Brown Girl Club 14's Mother-Daughter Conference which focused on building leaders from the inside out, and encouraging girls to embrace and celebrate their respective shades of brown.
Sheri Crawley, founder of Pretty Brown Girl from Detroit, Michigan, was among the speakers that included Gayle Barrow, Simone Gibson, Tiffany Hall, Anastarcia Huyler, Tonette Minnis, Candilaria Thompson, and BAF Financial representatives Phyllis Meeusen and Patrice Rolle.
"Pretty Brown Girl Club 14 provides monthly self-esteem building activities for girls in our club. This mother-daughter conference provided a way for our club to reach out into the community and touch the lives of more girls and their families, to help girls celebrate the skin that they are in and love themselves," said Anita Bain, co-leader of Pretty Brown Girl Club 14.
The half-day event was sponsored by BAF Financial, RBC Royal Bank, Girls Will Be Girls, British Colonial Hilton, The Bible Book and Gift Centre and Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau.
Pretty Brown Girl Club 14 was founded in March 2013 and is led by Bain and Yolanda Darville. Pretty Brown Girl (www.prettybrowngirl.com) is an international organization that aims to fulfill its mission of celebrating the beautiful shades of brown skin all over the world, while inspiring positive self-esteem and confidence in girls and young women.
