Scotiabank supports center for disabled

Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd. has made another annual donation to the Training Centre for the Disabled to assist with student text books, visual aids, field trips, uniforms, start-up kits and special apparatus for disabilities.
Rivianna Smith, managing director/coordinator at the center, said: "It is important that all persons, including those with a disability, have equal opportunity in education and training to facilitate the development of maximum potential of independent living."
She credits Scotiabank's ongoing partnership as paramount in the center's success.
As a global bank operating in over 50 countries, Scotiabank aims to be relevant and responsive to the needs of the communities in which they work and live, said the bank in a release.
"Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd. is a proud participant in local efforts, donating to and sponsoring select art, education, sports, social services and environment-related activities. Scotiabank particularly concentrates on building relationships with non-profit and charitable organizations focused on children or that empower people with the proficiencies required to improve their health, safety and well-being," it added.
The only one of its kind in the country, the Training Centre for the Disabled provides programs and training for persons with disabilities and solicits employment for them based on their individual interests and vocational skills.
