The Department of Immigration has released images of the exterior and interior of the newly constructed dormitories at the Carmichael Road Detention Center.

Additionally, images were released of the interior of the half-way house for female refugees and their minor children while they await processing and repatriation.

It is the policy of the Bahamas government that mothers should not be separated from their minor children during the processing and detention periods.

These photos were displayed as part of the presentation delivered at a hearing by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights into complaints filed about the treatment of refugees in The Bahamas.

The presentation was delivered by the State Minister for Legal Affairs, the Hon. Damian Gomez in the Ruben Dario Room at the headquarters of the Organization of American States in Washington DC at 11:30am on Friday, 20th March 2015.
