NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM EPSILON ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION AT 12PM, MONDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2020.

...DEPRESSION STRENGTHENS INTO TROPICAL STORM EPSILON...

AT 11 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM EPSILON WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 25.6° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 55.3° WEST,OR ABOUT 735 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA.

EPSILON IS STATIONARY AND LITTLE OVERALL MOTION IS EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT. A SLOW WEST-NORTHWESTWARD TO NORTHWESTWARD MOTION SHOULD BEGIN ON TUESDAY, AND THIS MOTION SHOULD CONTINUE THROUGH MIDWEEK.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPHWITH HIGHER GUSTS. GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 72 HOURS, AND EPSILON IS FORECAST TO BE AT OR NEAR HURRICANE STRENGTH BY EARLY THURSDAY.

Half a million US children have been diagnosed with Covid-19, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association.

The groups said 70,630 new child cases were reported from August 20 through September 3. This is a 16% increase in child cases over two weeks, bringing up the total to at least 513,415 cases, the groups said in their weekly report on pediatric coronavirus cases.

Police used stun grenades, rubber bullets and water cannon. A human rights group said one protester was killed and about 120 arrested.

Mr Lukashenko won 80% of the vote, according to a preliminary count.

But the main opposition leader has refused to recognise the results.

"We have already won, because we have overcome our fear, our apathy and our indifference," Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said.
