The Department of Labour?s staff will go into various communities, beginning with Bain and Grants Town, to speak with jobseekers and register them in the PCRecruiter database in an effort to match these job seekers with potential job opportunities.
We also encourage businesses in these areas, to join us in this exciting initiative by coming out and registering their job vacancies on-site at the ?Labour on the Blocks? events.
?Labour on the Blocks? will be hosted in a different community every month this year.

Fish Fry at James Cistern

Each Saturday night, within three months of the annual homecoming in James Cistern, the Heritage Affair Homecoming Committee holds a fish fry under the cork tree to raise funds. This attracts persons from the community and neighboring settlements for an evening of eating tasty conch fritters, peas and rice, baked macaroni and cheese, and barbecue chicken that is cooked on an outside grill. There is also an assortment of drinks available, plus dancing in the street to some good old Bahamian music.
