Innovative Capacity Building and Fundraising Techniques for NGOs

The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy will host a presentation on how to develop and implement innovative capacity building and fundraising techniques to enhance the NGO community in The Bahamas.

When: Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Where: The American Corner in the Harry C. Moore Library at The College of The Bahamas.

Time: 6:00 p.m.

This presentation will be facilitated by Ms. Tehranique Miller, Founder of iCan Community. Attendees will participate in a discussion about the value of human and financial resources as mechanisms to move NGOs forward.

Tehranique Miller is the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of iCan, an NGO that provides after school programs for at-risk youth. iCan Community?s vision is 'To give worth, hope, possibilities and opportunities to the children and families we serve.' iCan Community Ltd. is a registered non-profit organization in The Bahamas that was formed to introduce, develop and nurture an 'I can' attitude in our children. iCan serves children between the ages of 3 and 13 that have been labeled 'troubled' or 'bad' kids.

Ms. Miller recently participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program which is the U. S. Department of State?s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience the United States first-hand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts.
