The Red Dress Soir?e 2012

The Red Dress Soir?e is a unique fund raising event that directly supports the fight against HIV/AIDS in the community. This runway show, cocktail reception and silent auction salutes ?Leading Ladies? in the community and promotes local fashion designers and their art.

"HIV/AIDS has impacted the lives of thousands of Bahamians, yet the stigma of the disease remains. A personal encounter with a child who contracted the virus at birth and recently lost his mother to AIDS prompted me to parlay my love of fashion into an event that will directly assist Bahamian children and adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS. We can all help in the fight to effect change for those affected by HIV/AIDS by supporting events that maintain top of mind awareness for this preventable disease that claims the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters,? states Tyrina Neely, owner of Primadona.

Twelve trailblazing women representing varying industries will be honored during the event and will showcase twelve red evening gowns designed by local fashion designers. Following the runway show, a cocktail reception will be held featuring a silent auction where 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the Bahamas AIDS Foundation. ?The Foundation is delighted to partner with Primadona to host this unique event which combines the creativity of the local designers with recognition of some of the Leading Ladies in our country. All of this while at the same time raising funds for a very worthy cause,? states Lady Camille Barnett, President of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation. AIDS related causes have been the leading cause of death in the 15-49 year age group in The Bahamas since 1994. The Bahamas AIDS Foundation is dedicated to assisting in the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS and providing support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Why:
The Red Dress Soir?e is designed to educate, raise awareness and raise funds to further the efforts of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation and their work with adolescents affected by and infected with HIV/AIDS.

Ten local fashion designers will design red gowns that will be showcased by ten outstanding Bahamian ?Leading Ladies?. The three part event features a runway show followed by a silent auction and cocktail reception.
