Judgement in Paradise A live stage play by Adrian WildGoose "Is the end near?" find out... May 25th & 26th, 2012 @ & 7:30pm The College Of The Bahamas performing arts centre $20 in advance. $25 at door (seats are limited) contacts: (242) 522-6820 Email: awildgoose@gmail.com Synopsis Set in a fictional Bahamas, “Judgment in Paradise” tells the story of a families experience leading up to the Mayan predicted end of The Bahamas on December 21, 2012. Although the main plot focuses on the Willshine family, the audience is given a peak into the desperate sphere of Bahamian politics, religion as salvation, and the perceived ethos of the average Bahamian. Life and existence as Bahamians know it hangs in the balance as foreign investment, familial ties and social constructs clash to provide a thrilling experience that interrogates Bahamian lived experience. 24 year old Destiny Willshine competes with every other citizen for her father’s attention and consideration. Visually impaired from a very young age she proves that having physical sight does not translate into wisdom and reasoning. Destiny’s father, Christian Willshine is one of the leading protagonists as he establishes the corrupting and blinding influence of power and selfish desire. Representative of the moral and value system of times past, Grandpa Willshine, who is also the Reverend at End Times Ministries, portray the changed Bahamian lived experience through his interaction with Destiny, Christian and Chance. The youth living in ‘Paradise’, Chance and Shanice, critique the traditional Bahamian roles of young men and women operating in a world of partying and drugs, they seem detached from the reality. The title of the play spells doom, not for the world, but The Bahamas. Priorities are questioned, relationships destroyed, countries are sold and The Bahamas is sinking. ‘Judgement’ is abounding. A critical play that forces an analysis of the realities Bahamians live daily. NOTE: This play is something that you do not want to miss. Mark the date May 25 & 26, 2012 on your calendar. The play will be staged at the College of the Bahamas’ Performing Arts Center. Stay tuned for ticket and other information. COMING SOON, if the end doesn’t happen before then!

FNM San Salvador Rally

Saturday 5th May 2012  1:00 PM

SATURDAY, May 5: 1:00PM – San Salvador, FNM Headquarters, Cockburn Town About The FNM The Free National Movement was born out of a struggle for greater accountability and transparency. The party cut its teeth in the fight to deliver our country from political corruption and victimisation, and it reached maturity as a government whose tenure and accomplishments have become the standard against which all future governments of The Bahamas will be judged. Over 40 years ago, the founders of the FNM had the wisdom and foresight to recognise the absence of truly democratic principals within the leadership of the then-governing party. They separated themselves and adopted “FREE” as their motto. These ‘Dissident Eight’ held themselves to the highest standard, one fuelled by a love of their country and a commitment to serve all Bahamians fairly and equitably. Today, the nation — and the world — continue to hold the FNM in the highest regard. The Free National Movement is proud of this mantle. FNM Leaders have been great figures in Bahamian history, men and women of character, honour, and ethics who abhor corruption and detest victimisation. The FNM is the party of honesty and integrity, vision and commitment, fairness and inclusion. We deliver.

Amos Ferguson Bahamian Outsider A retrospective of the career of Amos Ferguson (1920-2009) and an exploration into the outsider Art Movement of the Bahamas with works from the National Collection Thursday, May 24, 2012 National Art Gallery of The Bahamas West & West Hill Streets 6:30pm to 8:30pm NAGB presents "Amos Ferguson - Bahamian Outsider" Opening Reception: TOMORROW Thursday, May 24 at 6.30pm The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is pleased to be staging a large-scale retrospective of one of the masters of the Bahamian art scene: Amos Ferguson. Born in Exuma in 1920 and passed away in Nassau in 2009, Ferguson is well known beyond the Bahamian shores for his brilliantly colored scenes of Bahamian life and illustrated Bible stories. Aptly entitled "Bahamian Outsider," this show aims to firmly establish this self-taught artist into the firmament of great Bahamian and international artists. This exhibition not only presents over 100 of his paintings, many of which are precious early works out of private collections that have remained long-unseen, but will also show Ferguson's glasswork, ceramics and interest in the creation of objects for daily use. Not only is The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas re-opening the upstairs ballroom for this exhibition, which extends the gallery space by almost one third. This has given them the opportunity to re-display many works from the National Collection.
