Nassau, Bahamas - BOB and the Kiwanis Club of
Nassau AM have launched a special Christmas appeal aiming to bring
holiday cheer to youngsters in Bain and Grants Town. The appeal that
began earlier this week invites the public to bring in toys to any BOB
location in New Providence. The toys should be unwrapped and suitable
for children aged 12 years and younger. Toys will be wrapped and
delivered to children on Christmas morning by Kiwanis' Santa.
"It is a tragedy that that scores of children in many communities of our
island will not have a single gift to open this Christmas," said Natila
Saunders, of Kiwanis Club of Nassau A.M. "We are determined to change
this and to ensure that the children in the Bain and Grants Town
communities have at least one present from Santa this Christmas."

The Bahamas' "ability to innovate and modernise this economy" is being held back through a tendency to "make decisions based on downside risk, not upside potential", the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce's president warned yesterday, urging this nation to revisit industries such as agriculture and LNG to get commerce moving.
Khaalis Rolle told Tribune Business that the Bahamas needed to stop "playing and toying" with industries such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), which could provide totally new avenues of economic opportunities, and focus just as much on the potential benefits they might bring as opposed to the negatives.
