Jennifer Hudson and BeBe Winans Perform at Bahamas Tribute Concert for Sir Sidney

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas - Tonight festivities continued

at Atlantis
to celebrate
Sir Sidney Poitier and the launch of the 40th anniversary of
independence for The Bahamas with a concert featuring Jennifer Hudson,
American recording artist who came to prominence in 2004 as a finalist
on the third season of American Idol.  Bahamian dignitaries, local
celebrities and international stars such as Oprah Winfrey and BeBe
Winans were in attendance to support and honour Sir Sidney.

During
the tribute concert, video messages to Sir Sidney were offered by
Morgan Freeman, Quincy Jones,
Marvin Gaye, among others. Bebe Winans sang in between the screen
stories showing Sir Sidney's lifetime contributions.  Also shown was the

Armed robbery reported in Hudson Estates on Grand Bahama

On Friday 17th May 2013 around 4:40am, police received information that there was an
armed robbery in the Hudson Estates area.

Officers responded and it was reported that a male who was described as slim in built,
armed with a long knife entered a home and demanded cash. The suspect robbed the
occupant of a Bahamian passport, before making good his escape.

Investigation into this matter is continuing.
