The Elizabeth Estates Children's Home was officially opened on the 30th April 1992, by the government of the Bahamas. The Anglican Diocese eventually joined in partnership with the government to manage the residential childcare facility. The infrastructure of the Home was constructed to provide and maintain a safe, alternative, living accommodation for the growing number of children in need of care and protection as a result of being abused or neglected by parents or guardians.

The Home provides 24 hour care for up to 50 children between the ages of 11 and 17 years. Children must be referred to the Home by the Department of Social Services and the Juvenile Court.

In addition to accommodation, the Home aims to provide individual and group counselling to residents, liaise with other professionals and agencies that can support residents and ultimately discharge residents to family units that meet the criteria to assist them in becoming productive citizens of The Bahamas.

There are volunteer opportunities in the form of tutoring, church visitation, personal care development, spiritual enrichment training, concerts and speech outings, sports, coaching and training. Any interested persons should contact the Home for more information.
