Recession Proof Your Business
Monday 12th September 2011 9:00 AM
The International Labour Organization recognizing the need to strengthen Caribbean economies have introduced throughout the region a skills training program for Small and Medium Enterprises as well as entrepreneurs who want to grow, expand and sustain their business. For one full week, beginning September 12-16, 2011 in Freeport Grand Bahama at Sunrise Resort & Marina, Regional Consultants will conduct impactful Training Seminars equipping participants with the essential competencies to manage successful organizations.
This 40 hour training program has been offered for $600 US in other countries, but is being offered through the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation Chamber Institute for $139.00 US per BCCEC Member, $179.00 US per non-member which includes lunch each day, program material, free consultancy services for your business, the actual training for the week and certification at the end of the program.
Recession proof companies are those businesses, large or small, who understand how to maneuver skillfully in challenging economic times. Examine for a while the small minority of small and medium Bahamian businesses that have survived the last 50 years. The statistics tell us clearly that in 2010 over 1700 small and medium sized businesses FAILED and CLOSED their doors of operation. While we look on the sidelines and declare that this will not happen to our businesses, this sad commentary has become the reality for many of our comrades.

HEART OF A SOUL SURFER:
Bethany Hamilton, a 13-year-old girl destined for a successful surfing career, lost
her arm to a 14-foot tiger shark on Oct. 31, 2003. The attack didn’t lead this
determined Soul Surfer to give up.Instead, it compelled her to discover her
purpose in life as she overcame the loss of her arm and got back on the board
just three weeks later. Heart of a Soul Surfer digs deep into the heart of Bethany’s
abiding faith in God, and tackles difficult questions such as “Why does God allow
bad things to happen in our lives?” It features exclusive surf & family footage of
Bethany before & after the attack, including Bethany’s first attempts at surfing with
one arm, as well as her winning the 2005 NSSA National Surfing Championship
just 19 months later. Bethany’s story has been told by many different people
around the world, but this is the first time she and her family have been able to
share it from their heart and perspective. This is a powerful, true story that
you won’t want to miss!
