Cara Christie was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, and spent most of her childhood summers in the English countryside with her mother's family. As a teenager, Cara attended schools in Switzerland and New York State, and studied for a year in France. In 1981, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Smith College and Hampshire College in Massachusetts, and later completed a Physician Assistant and Bachelor of Science degree at the Hahnemann in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon her return to Nassau, Cara coordinated clinical trials of hypertension medications at Princess Margaret Hospital on behalf of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. She then moved to Brazil, where she taught English and sang in numerous choirs. In 1997, Cara came back to The Bahamas to study for her Real Estate Agent certification and become part of her family's business. After spending several very busy years learning the ropes at H. G. Cara speaks Portuguese and French and is an accomplished singer, having performed in choirs in such far-flung places as the Patagonia in Argentina, Prague, and the celebrated Carnegie Hall in New York City. Her other hobbies include traveling, skiing, sailing and playing tennis. Cara lives in Nassau with her husband Cairo, whom she met while living in Brazil.
