Donna Laing-Jones was born on the island of Grand Bahama and grew up in the quaint settlement of Pelican Point. She graduated from Freeport Anglican High School as Head Girl in 1981 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida in 1986. Donna worked in sales, marketing, accounting and administration before joining H. G. Christie in May, 2002. She successfully completed the Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) Salesman's course in September, 2002 and became a Broker in April 2006.
