Revival of boxing at Nassau Stadium

For many years stretching from the 1950s to the 1980s the Nassau Stadium was the primary location for boxing.
When Charles W. Major Sr. returned from New York to reside again at home during the 1930s he was way ahead of his time in sports promotion, but with a trailblazer's mindset, he set about planning. Although he had been involved primarily in track and field throughout his high school and college days in New York, he opted for a concentration on another sport.
It was ironic.
Here was a man who had risen to being one of the best high jumpers in the world. He had cleared 6-8 and won numerous collegiate titles including the prestigious Millrose Games and the Amateur Athletic Union champions ...
