Four die in Abaco two-car collision

Officers from New Providence are investigating a two-car collision in Abaco that led to the death of four men, including a police officer, on Friday.

According to police reports, the fatal collision occurred sometime around 10:20 p.m. on the S.C. Bootle Highway, just south of Andy's Service Station.

Police say the head-on collision involved a grey Volkswagen Jetta that was being driven by Police Constable Valentino Burrows, a Coopers Town resident, and a white Plymouth Acclaim that was being driven by Ricardo Reckley.

While details were still sketchy up to press time last night, police did say Burrows, Reckley, and passengers Romeo McIntosh and Tony Curry all succumbed to injuries at the scene of the accident.

They added that passenger Valentino McIntosh, who was injured in the collision, was transported to Coopers Town Clinic. The extent of his injuries were not known up to press time.

Police said he matter is under investigation and officers from the Traffic Division in New Providence are assisting their colleagues in Abaco with the investigation.

The four deaths pushed the nation's traffic fatalities up to 48 so far for the year, said police.
