In full bloom

Sisters Krista Hanna-Nairn and Kandice Hanna coined the phrase "Shop. Sip. See. Sample. Snap. Score". Seven years ago they brought it to the market, and it hasn't grown old yet. Whenever it's mentioned people know one thing...it's time for the event that's not so little, known as The Little Pink Party. And after seven years and 12 events, the most adored experiential marketing event in The Bahamas is "in full bloom".
"We are truly in full bloom as far as what the event has become and how far it's come," said Kandice of the party that will be held on Saturday at The Green Parrot restaurant and the Harbour Front Lounge on East Bay Street. The party starts at 3 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. with an exhibitor marketplace; a live performance by 4Ever1; hourly fashion shows with the outgoing "It Girl" as well as the "It Girl" contestants; lots to sample from drinks to everything in the sweet department such as cupcakes, pastries, breads, jams, cookies and tarts; fitness demonstrations showing you how to work off all the treats you consumed; a special area just for the kids, and of course the free entry swag that is chock-full of goodies this year for the first 500 entries into the party.
The photo booth that was wildly popular at last year's Atlantis Pink It In Paradise event has popped up for this year's summer party. Kandice sid you can feel free to drag your mother in for a photo session and have really cool memories of the day.
"We have improved tremendously. The event has evolved to where there is a lot of shopping, a lot of sipping, lots to see, lots to sample, and tons of stuff to snap up and score," said Kandice.
"At the last hour we are still receiving more products that will go into the "swag bag". Previously you would get a cosmetic case and you got to pick three samples, but now you get a bag filled with full-sized and sample products, and it's really brimming," said Kandice. "We wanted a big bag so that it could also double as a shopping bag, so patrons did not have to walk around with a bunch of bags. And even before the event it will be filled with freebies."
With this year's party on the eve of Mother's Day, Kandice said it would provide an outlet for shoppers to pick up gifts for the mothers in their life, as vendors will have products packaged that attendees can pick up; they will be able to shop until 9 p.m.
"Little pink box", Kandice and Krista's version of a raffle, is their nod to charity and will offer approximately 200 prizes, from key chains to cosmetic gift packs, totes, passes to Aquaventure and dinners for two at Atlantis restaurants. A box can be purchased for $5. Funds raised from the sale of the boxes will go to the Cancer Society of The Bahamas, separate and apart from the proceeds from the door.
The party has also returned to its original Green Parrot, Harbour Front Lounge venue on East Bay Street, which it had outgrown after its first few events. With the renovations and addition of the Bay Street Marina, Kandice said the space is perfect once again for the summer event. They expect the usual crowd of at least 1,500 to enter the gates.
For shopaholics, The Little Pink Party is a candyland.
And this year when The Little Pink Party winds down, the deejay will turn up the music for "Pink at Night: The Party after the Party", sponsored by Heineken Lite.
"We will be encouraging you to stay late and by 9 p.m. the whole venue will have a pink glow, and it's pretty much partying and a nice lounge experience." There's no charge for the after party; once you are in The Little Pink Party, you are automatically in for Pink at Night.
Tickets for The Little Pink Party are $5 in advance, and can be purchased at Bay Street Medical or Mimi in Palmdale, or $10 at the gate. Swag bags will be available for the first 500 people.
