There is no “sweeeter” event this year than the Sweeet Fest, which features the nation’s most creative pastry chefs, at-home bakers and masters of all things sweet.

In partnership with the Ministry of Tourism’s Culinary Division, self-proclaimed foodies and marketing executives, Keiani Worrell and Khashan Poitier are hosting the Sweeet Fest on Saturday, May 17th at the Pompey Square, located in the heart of downtown Nassau.

"To be frank, we created this event because we love sweets. More importantly, the Sweeet Fest shows a commitment to entrepreneurship and culinary tourism, an untapped market in The Bahamas,” says Ms Poitier.

Local culinary businesses that specialize in desserts are on the rise in the Bahamas, but often lack the marketing dollars to promote their craft and services. For one sweet day and the days leading up to the Sweeet Festival, registered vendors will receive extensive media exposure—online and on radio waves.

Vendors will also see a boost in their customer base. In addition to the thousands of cruise ship passengers that will visit the bustling downtown area that day, hundreds of locals are also anticipated to attend this family-friendly event.

The Sweeet Fest vendors will feature an array of sweets, including the classic guava duff and gourmet desserts, a modernized lemonade stand, hibiscus flavored cakes, alcohol-infused popsicles and whipped cream. There will also be a Kiddie Circle, featuring carnival treats, face painting and balloon caricatures for kids.

The Bahamas welcomes thousands of recurring visitors each year, whether by cruise or airline. With that in mind, participating businesses can not only expand their local clientele, but branch into international clients, as well.

“The Sweeet Fest comes just in time for spring seasonal orders, and for tourists planning their wedding in The Bahamas or simply looking for a private chef, this is an incredible opportunity to showcase the culinary talent in our small country,” says Ms Worrell.

The event will climax with a Junkanoo rush-out, a headlining Bahamian artist and other live entertainment. For more information, please email our Sweeet Team at khastier@gmail.com or call the coordinators directly at 242.432.9090 or 242.698.1871.
