FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - Just two weeks after a $16.8 million discovery in East Grand Bahama, police uncovered another cultivated marijuana field in the same area. Reports are that on Thursday, around 10 a.m., officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, along with U.S. counterparts acting on information, went to an undeveloped area in East Grand Bahama.
Upon arrival at the location, they discovered a number of marijuana plants ranging between one and five feet in height.
Police confirmed that the plots contained approximately 75,000 plants with a street value of $7.5 million.
Officers also discovered three black garbage bags that contained freshly processed marijuana, along with three make shift tents in the area.
Police Affairs and Communications Officer (PACO) Inspector Terecita Pinder said that although no arrests were made up to press time, officers are working to eradicate the growing trend.
"Police are determined in the fight against the cultivation and supply of drugs, and we will intensify our efforts on combing the length and breadth of Grand Bahama to ensure that law and order is upheld and adhered to," said Pinder.
"We will intensify our efforts in bringing all perpetrators before the courts that engage in these activities."
