While continually striving for perfection in food service, the Food and Beverage team at Atlantis, Paradise Island recently launched a brand new dining series entitled “Dinners of Discovery”.

Starting the series off was “Umami and Sake” with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa at his restaurant Nobu in the Atlantis Casino.

According to Anastarcia Huyler, Marketing Manager for the Food and Beverage Division Chef Nobu was invited for the special event as a part of their team’s continual effort to add value to our overall guest experience.

“We are ever-changing, ever-evolving and we want our products to evolve with us. Chef Nobu was the first of what we hope will be many of our celebrity chefs visiting and providing one-on-one experiences for our guests in the future,” said Huyler.

“We hope to have Chef Jean Georges this Spring, Chef Angelo this summer and Chef Todd English in the fall. All of the chefs are joining us in what we are calling “Dinners of Discovery”… discovery because guests will get to experience an intimate environment with these celebrity chefs, while having their palettes discover new and interesting flavors.

The Nobu dinner for example, allowed our guests to discover the “fifth taste” “umami” a taste that the Japanese claim combines the flavors of bitter, sweet, salty and sour so that food can be thoroughly enjoyed,” she concluded.

The successful evening had over 100 participants and was largely organized by the new Nobu General Manager James Frazey who joins our Atlantis team with years of Nobu experience including having worked at Atlantis, The Palm Dubai.

The seven-course meal, paired with sake under the supervision of Fumio Hazu, CEO of Hokusetsu Saske Brewery, began with cocktails and canapés followed by remarks from Chef Nobu himself.

He expressed his thanks to everyone who attended and especially pointed out his staff remarking that many of them had been with the restaurant since it opened almost 8 years ago. Bringing remarks as well was Dr. Kumiko Ninomiya, Director, Umami Information Center, Tokyo.
