Chairman of the Ball Committee, Mike Stafford, Assistant District Governor, is excited about the Ball. "We anticipate that this Ball will be our most successful ever, as we can feel the momentum building with a combination of what will be offered on the night of the Ball, as well as the support we are receiving from the community." said Stafford.
"All the clubs on the island are coming together to make this Ball our most successful ever. I am very pleased to see this demonstration of Rotary unity in Grand Bahama, as all four clubs want to ensure the Ball's success. As we do, traditionally, the funds received from the Ball will be distributed among the clubs to support their various community programmes," he continued.
According to the Assistant District Governor, over the years, the Rotary clubs in Grand Bahama have established a strong and commendable legacy of "service above self" support for the community. The clubs have a vibrant Youth Leadership Programme, as demonstrated in the Interact Clubs within the High Schools, meals programmes, assistance with the refurbishment of homes, scholarship programmes and support for the Salvation Army's bell ringing charity drive.
Additionally, the Freeport Club has its Water and Wheelchair projects, the Lucaya Club its SECME programme and is establishing the Steve Dillet Playground at the Beacon School, the Sunrise Club demonstrates "service above self" through Columbus House and its "cat's eyes" projects and the Sunset Club has its canned food drive and annual fundraising walk-a-thon. "So, we encourage all members of the community to support the Ball, for, as you can see, all the funds received from it will be returned to the community," concluded Stafford.
